The Revolution
Will Be Cultivated

The Massachusetts Avenue Project is a nonprofit food hub and urban farm located on Buffalo's West Side.

Our goal is to nurture the growth of a diverse, accessible, and equitable local food system as well as empower youth through social change education and paid, meaningful employment.

At MAP, we deeply believe that investing in the development of local youth is essential to growing a strong food system. Our year-round youth program provides paid employment and leadership development for Buffalo youth ages 14–20 through hands-on experiences in farming, food enterprise, and social justice organizing.

MAP’s urban farm resides on roughly an acre of growing space on the West Side of Buffalo. Guided by principals of agroecology, we aim to grow food and community in ways that honor the land, all creatures, and our community at large. Our harvest supports the Mobile Market with culturally significant foods and farm fresh value-added products.

The MAP Mobile Market is a traveling farm stand created as an effort to promote food equity by serving neighborhoods that have been affected by food apartheid. Stocked with seasonal, locally sourced and naturally grown produce and pantry staples, we offer quality goods at an accessible cost through a variety of payment methods and discount programs.

Long lasting, revolutionary change in our food system requires changes in food policy. Outside of MAP's farmhouse, we work in collaboration with local groups like the Good Food Buffalo Coalition & Greater Buffalo Urban Growers to promote a safe, accessible food system and dismantle existing systems of oppression within it.

From providing low-cost, flexible commercial kitchen space for local entrepreneurs to operate their businesses, to creating a safe and inclusive space for community cooking classes and MAP Youth culinary training— MAP’s Kitchen continues to be a place of gathering, skill-building, and dreams unfolding.
